Brazilian Portuguese for Beginners — Lesson 3

In this lesson, you’ll learn a few practical Brazilian Portuguese phrases used in everyday situations like traveling, meeting people, and making simple plans. Each sentence is broken down word by word to help you reinforce meaning and understand sentence structure as you continue building confidence.

13. Vamos ao hotel.
Let’s go to the hotel.
vamos - (we)go, let’s go (from ir, to go)
ao – a(to) + o (the, masculine)
hotel – hotel (sounds like otel)

14. Não é nada.
It’s nothing.
não – not, no
é – is (from ser, to be)
nada – nothing

15. Até amanhã.
Until tomorrow. / See you tomorrow.
até – until, up to; see you
amanhã - tomorrow

16. Eu acho que sim.
I think so.
eu – I
acho – think, find, suppose (from achar, to think)
que – that
sim - yes

17. Eu não me lembro.
I don’t remember.
eu - I
não – not, no
me – me, myself
lembro - remember

18. Nós vamos ao restaurante.
We are going to the restaurant.
nós – we
vamos – go, are going (from ir, to go)
ao - a(to) + o (the, masculine)
restaurante - restaurant (sounds like hestaurante)

Vocabulary Words 13-18
13. trabalho - work, job
14. tempo – time, weather
15. dinheiro – money (sounds like jinheiro)
16. comida - food
17. lugar - place
18. bonito / bonita – beautiful, pretty (masculine / feminine)
